MY FRENCH-AMERICAN SISTER - THE STATUE OF LIBERTY

When I was an architecture student, I was introduced to the story of  the State of Liberty. I was amazed and inspired by the fact that it was a gift from France to the US. The ship holding Lady Liberty even left the harbor in my home town of Normandy, pieces of her packaged in crates, bound for NYC. It was if I already felt the pull of these two nations on me, as if I knew I would ultimately be a child of both. As an artist, this gift represents a beautiful connection between the two nations - the French sharing a piece of its artist culture with the US, to create a harmonious relationship that cannot be broken.
