So rare does a book has such an impact on me and my journey that I think everyone should have to read it. Une Lettre a Mon Fils was offered by my friend Jessica @Chi-Chine, and I immediately connected with the main character. To read about a black man living his everyday life through letters written to his son really affected me because we do not often get depictions of successful black males in our society. To read about what felt like my own experiences through someone else's life was very moving, and I will not soon forget this book.
As a father reading this, also writing a art and inspiration diary to my own son since 2004, it was very reassuring and justified my own feelings and experiences as a black man just trying to teach my son the ways of our racist, yet beautiful world.
